Former UFC and Bellator fighter, Jonathan Koppenhaver, known as “War Machine”, was sentenced this Monday (05) to life in prison, after being tried for attacking his ex-girlfriend and former porn actress Christy Mack, and a friend of hers, Corey Thomas, in August 2014. The athlete was sentenced to life in prison, with the possibility of being released on parole after 36 years in prison, when he will be 71 years old.

At the time, Christy Mack and Thomas suffered numerous injuries, such as a punctured lung and several broken bones. Last March, Machine was found guilty on 29 charges, including domestic violence and false imprisonment. He went to the jury in the Clark County District Court, in Las Vegas, made up of six women and six men, who deliberated for more than 11 hours, for two days in a row, regarding the 34 accusations against the former fighter. After the crime, he was arrested, and Christy celebrated the outcome of the trial.

As an MMA professional, War Machine had a record of 14 wins and five losses, having had one positive and one negative result in the UFC. At Bellator, there were three fights, with two victories and one setback.
