In an interview with the Combate channel website, Joe Carr, UFC executive, revealed that, if the linear champion Germaine DeRandamie cannot be selected for UFC 214, Cyborg will face another athlete for the interim featherweight title.

“Yes (Cyborg’s next fight will be for the belt), 100% sure. Against Germaine DeRandamie or with anyone. Cyborg’s next fight will be for the featherweight title”, commented Carr, revealing that if GDR really wants to return to the bantamweight category, so he will have to vacate his featherweight belt.

“I don't know much for sure, I've been following the news, I've been traveling a lot since Stockholm, but it seems like she's focused on returning to the lower category. If that really is the case, she will have to hand over the belt. I don’t know what she has in mind, the UFC will talk to her manager to find out what she wants, but if she really does that, the belt will be open,” she commented, also on the Combate channel website.
