“Burn, man. This defeat burns like a venereal disease. Every time I go to urinate, it burns. But it's not because of a health problem, it's because of this defeat. It was the most painful of my career. Whenever I lose, it's by split decision, but the other times, the anger was with the side judges, now the frustration is with me. Personally, it’s the defeat that bothers me the most”, commented Masvidal, in an interview with the North American program “The MMA Hour”.

Despite the curious comparison, the welterweight made a point of praising his opponent. Masvidal said he was surprised by the strength of Demian, who spent much of his career in the top division and now has seven consecutive victories at 77 kg. Maia's half guard was also worthy of applause, according to “Gamebred”.

“His strength surprised me. You know, I get irritated all day when someone manages to hold me back for 10 seconds in training. He dominated me for eight minutes. I was very angry, but he is very strong. And his half guard is also very dangerous, he's always trying sweeps and attacks there. I've never felt that way and I train with world champions and ADCC level fighters (the biggest grappling competition in the world). It's very specific to MMA, in fact, it was a pleasure, I was able to learn new things”, said Masvidal.
