Last Friday (19), the Canadian Rory McDonald debuted in Bellator on the right foot. Former UFC welterweight title challenger, “Red King” submitted Englishman Paulo Daley in the second round of the main fight at Bellator 179, held in London. Shortly after the successful debut, MacDonald provoked the Brazilian Douglas lima, champion of the category at the event, and who faces Lorenz Larkin at Bellator 180, in New York, on June 25th.

In addition to Lima, Rory also made a point of retorting to his victim. Daley had said, before the duel, that the Canadian gave up easily in fights and, when he was submitted, he had to listen to the provocation.
“Paul Daley, I want to know something…Who is the quitter now? Douglas lima, I'm going to take the belt from you, but I'm not going to stop there. I'm going to take away your physical health too”, declared the Canadian, who, at 27 years old, reached his 19th professional victory, against four defeats.
In the second most important fight, Linton Vassell shocked former light heavyweight champion Liam McGeary, a jiu-jitsu specialist, by submitting him in the third round. Son of the late Kimbo Slice, Kevin Ferguson Jr. recovered from the defeat in his professional debut and knocked out DJ Griffin in the first round. Brazilian Augusto Sakai lost a heavyweight duel against former UFC fighter Cheick Kongo in a split decision.
