The soap opera about the return of Georges St Pierre the UFC gained another chapter last week. After the Canadian was removed from combat with Michael Bisping, which would be valid for the middleweight belt, Dana White, president of Ultimate, guaranteed that St. Pierre should no longer fight for the under-84kg belt, but rather for the welterweight division (up to 77kg), in which GSP reigned from 2007 to 2013, making nine title defenses.

“(St-Pierre) said he will fight whoever the welterweight champion is when he returns,” said the Ultimate leader, in an interview with the website 'TSN'.

The news could be bad for Demian Maia, number 1 in the category ranking and close to the line to fight for the belt. However, St. Pierre is only expected to fight again in October, which would allow the Brazilian to act before the Canadian.

Asked who the next middleweight challenger would be, Dana assured that Yoel romero is the first option, but he again stated that an interim title could be put on the line if champion Bisping is not ready to perform in the coming months.

PUBLICITY:

“We’re trying to make the fight between Bisping and Romero. If Bisping is unable to fight this summer, we will likely create an interim title between Romero and Robert whittaker”, confirmed.

Fatal change? Makhachev ignores warning and could end tragically at welterweight!
