The welterweight Demian Maia will finally have the opportunity to compete for the belt in his category. At UFC 211 this Saturday (13), in Dallas, the Brazilian achieved his seventh consecutive victory by overcoming, by split decision, the tough Jorge masvidal in the main portion of the event. After confirming yet another triumph, the jiu-jitsu world champion heard from Dana White himself that he will have the opportunity to fight for the title, which currently belongs to Tyron woodley.

Relying on his game of stifling his opponents with takedowns, as well as his specialty in taking the back, Demian did well in the first round, but Masvidal surprised him with his defense on the ground. In the other two rounds, the fight was more balanced, but the Brazilian did enough to overcome the Cuban-American in two of the three scores from the side judges.
