The former champion junior gypsy did not perform well in the main fight of UFC 211, an event held this Saturday (13), in Dallas, and ended up being surpassed by his former victim, the Croatian-American Stipe Miocic, current owner of the heavyweight belt. The Brazilian's defeat came via knockout in the first round, contrary to what happened in the first meeting between the two. They had faced each other in December 2014, when Dos Santos managed to win by decision in a balanced duel.

This time, however, the fight lasted just two minutes and 22 seconds. At that moment, Miocic landed a hard blow on Cigano's chin, who fell without action and the American just checked the work, waiting for the referee to interrupt. It is the second time that Stipe defends the heavyweight belt, won in Brazil, at the historic UFC 198, in May last year. After the fight, Miocic joked with reporter Joe Rogan when asked who his next challenge would be.

PUBLICITY:

"My kitchen! I have to return to my home and help my wife. Dallas, you guys were awesome. I’m the best in the world and I’m not stopping anytime soon”, commented the Croatian-American.

The fight

Partner of Joanna Jedrzejczyk on the American Top Team, Cigano seemed to have the same strategy as the Polish woman: investing in low kicks. After the first two loose blows on Miocic's leg, a swelling began to become visible, increasing the champion's sense of urgency, who gradually cornered the Brazilian.

PUBLICITY:

Cigano still tried to get rid of Miocic's cage game, but the Croatian-American kept the pressure on and gradually punished the challenger. Until he unleashed the final blow. Júnior fell and tried to defend himself, but he was already in no condition to fight and referee Herb Dean was correct in stopping the fight and declaring Stipe Miocic as winner.
