STJDMMA accuses Gastelum of lying in interview

After Kelvin Gastelum having openly criticized the STJDMMA (Superior Court of Sports Justice of the MMA) and the CABMMA (Brazilian MMA Commission), accusing both organizations of only being interested in money, the president of the Court, Marcelo Sedlmayer, refuted the North American's accusations. The manager said that the version that the North American gave to CABMMA was different from what he said in an interview with the program The MMA Hour.

In a statement sent to the North American website MMA Fighting, Sedlmayer criticizes Gastelum, who had told STJDMMA and CABMMA that he used a medicine with the same properties as weed. On “The MMA Hour”, however, Kelvin admitted that he smoked marijuana. Another conflict was pointed out by the manager in relation to the day the fighter stopped using the drug. On the North American program, Gastelum says he stopped three weeks before his fight against Vitor belfort at UFC Fortaleza, but the levels of the substance in his body found in the anti-doping test indicate recent use, in the week of the duel.

Finally, Sedlmayer attacked the argument of Kelvin, who said he has a card that allows him to use marijuana in California, where the drug is legal, and where he lives. The STJDMMA president assured that the fighter never presented any proof that he could use the substance legally, but that this would not make a difference, since marijuana is illegal in Brazil. Despite STJDMMA's objection, there are no plans to change the agreement with Kelvin Gastelum, who was suspended for three months and fined 20% of his purse for the fight at UFC Fortaleza.
