“Now, me and Jon Jones we were scheduled to fight five times, but we only faced each other once. I hope everything is done right now so we can fight in Anaheim. He is my “white whale”. He's that guy I have to chase. For me, as a competitor, for my legacy, for my sanity, I have to come face to face with Jon Jones once again inside the octagon and, this time, come out victorious”, commented the champion, in an interview with the “Edge and Christian Podcast”.

In addition to commenting on the importance of the rematch with Jones, the American also spoke about the difference in treatment the two receive from fans. While the controversial “Bones” is revered, Cormier is seen as a “villain”, even though he is far from trouble and has a very familiar life outside the octagon.

“People don’t want to be told, “I’m good, so you should root for me.” Jon Jones He's a guy who made a lot of mistakes and, perhaps, people identify with him more because of that. They say, “Forget this good guy Daniel Cormier, your children and your family. I prefer the guy who parties and has car accidents.” Maybe, I'm not cool enough because I go to work, fight and, when I'm not training or inside the Octagon, I'm going to watch my kids play football and baseball. That's what I do. I don't go to parties, I don't do all kinds of crazy things, so maybe I'm really boring. But I’m fine with it, I like my life”, declared DC.
