Ex-UFC, MacDonald debuts in Bellator with an eye on Brazilian

Former UFC welterweight title challenger talks about starting over in the new organization and possible fight with champion Douglas Lima

Rory McDonald he came close to becoming Ultimate champion at UFC 189, when he reached the fifth round against Robbie Lawler, but ended up knocked out. After another setback, the Canadian decided to sign with Bellator and will make his debut on May 19, against Paul Daley, another former UFC fighter, at Bellator 189, in London.

However, MacDonald already has his sights set on another fight. Welterweight champion of the organization chaired by Scott Coker, the Brazilian Douglas lima is the Canadian's main target, who intends to challenge him after getting past Daley. When commenting on his strategy against the Englishman, Rory already took aim at the Brazilian.

In the UFC, Rory had an outstanding career, winning nine victories against four defeats. He has already beaten names like B.J. Penn, Nate diaz, Demian Maia and the current UFC champion Tyron woodley. Lima is on his second journey as champion. He won the Bellator title for the first time in 2014, against Rick Hawn, but soon lost the belt, against Andrei Koreshkov. After overcoming Paul Daley, he had another chance against his former tormentor and knocked him out at the end of last year.
