Robert whittaker shocked the MMA world by knocking out Ronaldo Jacare, at UFC Kansas. The middleweight division interrupted the Brazilian's streak of two victories, who was one of the favorites to fight for the middleweight title, in possession of Michael Bisping. Therefore, the New Zealander, who has seven consecutive victories in the category, defended his position as the next challenger for the Englishman's belt.

“I showed the world, in my last fight, that I deserve to fight for the belt. I did what no one in the division has done (knocking out Jacaré), against a guy who hadn't been stopped like that in a long time. Many people have been trying to carve out their place in the title fight by standing still, and pulling strings behind the scenes, playing politics. But at the end of the day, they're running out of time to fight, and I'm not. I'm at the beginning of my career. If it’s a race against time, they won’t win,” commented Whittaker, 26, on “The MMA Hour”.

As Bisping faces Georges St Pierre for the title in the second half, a duel between the New Zealander and Yoel romero was suggested. Whittaker assured that he should not face the Cuban but rather “jump his queue” in the fight for the belt.

“I don't know why I should fight against Yoel romero to decide the next challenger. I think I earned my right to be the next person to fight for the belt, and the fact that Bisping challenged me only worked in my favor. I just have to wait and continue doing what I've been doing, and be prepared to compete for the title (…) I think Michael Bisping He owes me a fight, because he didn't ignore what I did that day. And even if he ignores it, I believe he finds me an easier fight. Yoel has a lot of hype around him. I'm sure he finds me an easier opponent. But I love surprising people”, pondered the middleweight.
