Cub swanson dream big! The North American asserted his favoritism and beat Artem Lobov, friend and training partner of Conor McGregor, in the unanimous decision of the judges and wants the belt of José Aldo. In the early hours of this Sunday (23), after winning the main fight of UFC Fight Night Nashville, Swanson asked for the chance to fight for the featherweight title against the winner of José Aldo x Max Holloway, who will duel at UFC Rio, in June.
It is worth remembering that Cub was knocked out devastatingly by Aldo, with a flying knee, in just eight seconds of combat, in 2009.
The fight program also brought two Brazilians into action and the country's balance was a draw. In the preliminary program, Thales leites made peace with victory and beat Sam Alvey. But on the main card, Marcos Foot He even had a good start, but ended up being submitted by Haitian Ovince St. Preux in the second round.
Pezão starts well, but is finished
Faced with the biggest challenge of his career, Pezão started the fight with everything. The Brazilian took the initiative and worked with strong kicks to the waistline of Ovince St Preux. The Haitian, based in Nashville, in turn, couldn't find the space to mount the counterattack. Confident, the São Paulo fighter worked with punch combinations to his rival's face. Only in the final minute did St. Preux manage to exchange blows frankly with Pezão.

If in the first round St. Preux didn't get the opportunity to show his game, the chance appeared in the first moves of the second round. Pezão tried a kick to the waist, but the Haitian held his leg and took the fight to the ground. From above, OSP connected with some elbows that opened a cut on Marcos' face. The Brazilian still tried to get up, but was knocked down again. From below, he tried to use a guillotine choke, but St-Preux, however, had the perfect answer: the “Von Flue choke”, a position in which he presses his opponent's neck with his shoulder. Unable to get out of the chokehold, the Brazilian was forced to withdraw from the contest.
“He went for the guillotine, and everyone knows that when you try to do that to me, nine times out of 10 I will submit you. We call it 'Von St-Preux'”, joked the Haitian.

Swanson beats McGregor's friend and dreams of a rematch with Aldo
In the main fight of the night, Cub Swason gave the underdog no room. The fourth-ranked featherweight contender fought a tough fight with Artem Lobov, friend and training partner of Conor McGregor. But at the end of 25 minutes of competition, the American had his hand raised in the unanimous decision of the judges. Despite
of Swason's triumph coming against an unranked athlete, anyone who thinks the victory was easy is mistaken. Lobov actually started better. The Russian based in Ireland avoided his rival's combinations, took down Cub and scored points on top. But from the second round onwards, the story of the fight began to change.
Swanson returned to the second half more agile and combining kicks and punches against Lobov, who was no longer able to take the fight to the ground. It was actually the North American who managed a takedown in the clinch.
From the third round onwards, Cub Swason opened up the front. With greater precision in the exchange of blows, the American even rocked Lobov with a cross, followed by a beautiful high kick. The American tried to increase the pace to seek the knockout, but Lobov resisted as best he could.
Lobov went up in the fourth round. He closed the distance and looked for the clinch, but was unsuccessful in trying to take the fight to the ground. Swanson slowed the pace, but almost ended the contest with a beautiful strike. He got out of the clinch with a strong round elbow, which shook the Russian.
Already tired, the pace dropped in the fifth round. Behind on the scoreboard, Lobov tried to end the dispute with just one blow, but Swanson avoided all attacks and secured the triumph in the unanimous decision (49-46, 50-45, 49-46).
“My mentality is to fight. I have 21 fights in the UFC, and when guys like this come to provoke me, I have to respond. I want the winner of Aldo vs. Holloway. I think it’s time,” he said. Cub swanson still in the octagon after the victory.
