Marlon Moraes talks about 'dream come true' after agreement with UFC

Bantamweight signed with Ultimate and will make his debut in Rio de Janeiro, June 3rd, against Raphael Assunção

The negotiation was long, but Marlon moraes, finally, signed a contract with the UFC. Former WSOF bantamweight champion, the Rio native agreed with Ultimate and already has a date to make his debut in his new home: he will face his compatriot Raphael Assunção at UFC 212, June 3, in Rio de Janeiro. According to Marlon, the chance to work in the biggest MMA organization in the world is the realization of an old dream.

“It was a slightly complicated situation, but I understand the difficulty of negotiating and I am very grateful to my coaches for being on my side and my manager for making my dream come true. I promise to seize this opportunity. The UFC is the biggest event in the world, it's an honor to be fighting for them. The game is just beginning, we are going with great humility in search of higher flights”, declared the fighter, in an interview with the website 'Globoesporte.com.

In addition to his debut, Moraes has one more reason to celebrate. Born in Nova Friburgo, the bantamweight will perform 'at home', as his hometown is less than 600km from the capital of Rio.

“What I have always done is have a lot of determination, hard training and an infinite search for victories and great performances (…) It is a great joy to debut in the UFC near Nova Friburgo. I count on everyone there. It will be a great event”, concluded Marlon.

Marlos Moraes, 28 years old, was WSOF champion from March 2014 until January 2017. Since then, he has won seven in seven fights, having defended the title on five occasions. Undefeated for more than five years (13 fights), the Friborg native has a professional record with 18 wins, four defeats and one draw.
