Knockout on Jacaré earns Whittaker performance bonus

Champion Johnson's submission over Wilson Reis was also awarded, as was the fight between Tim Elliott and Louis Smolka

Shortly after shocking the world by knocking out the Brazilian Ronaldo Jacare, Robert whittaker became $50 richer. The New Zealander received the Performance of the Night bonus at UFC Kansas for his surprising victory over the Amazonian and returns home with a big check. In his last fight, in which he won Derek Brunson, also by knockout, Whittaker had received two bonuses: performance bonus and fight of the night bonus.

This time, the best fight chosen by the UFC itself was between flyweights Tim Elliott e Louis Smolka. The two had a very busy duel, full of spins, back grabs and submission attempts. The battle on the ground was awarded by Ultimate, with winner Elliott and loser Smolka also receiving US$50.

Traditionally, the UFC gives two Performance awards and prioritizes the most important fights of the event. Despite names like Rose namajunas, which ended Michelle Waterson, and Zak Cummings, who erased Nathan Coy, had excellent performances, the bonus went to Demetrious Johnson. The flyweight champion dominated Wilson reis for almost 15 minutes, before submitting him with an armbar with 11 seconds remaining in the third round. In addition to equaling the record for title defenses of Anderson Silva, at 10, Mighty Mouse also goes home $50 richer.
