UFC Kansas this Saturday will feature several big fights, including the return of the Brazilian middleweight Ronaldo Jacare, which faces Robert whittaker, and the duel between Demetrious Johnson e Wilson reis for the flyweight title. However, in the pre-event open training sessions, the fighters' companions were the ones who stole the show. Rose namajunas e Michelle Waterson, who face off in the main portion of the show.

Waterson brought her daughter, little Araya, aged six, and the girl served as her mother's sparring partner, who gave her a little movement training before the duel with Namajunas, which could decide who will be the next challenger for the strawweight belt, currently in possession of Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Araya was greatly celebrated by the fans present and risked kicks and punches with Michelle.

“She loves watching me fight and this is a big moment for me, a fight that could put me close to a title shot. It doesn't make sense not to include Araya in my training and routine. She loves. She looks like a little coach, especially because she loves telling others what to do”, joked Waterson, in a press interview after the open training session.

Namajunas did not let it go and did her training accompanied by Mishka, her dog, who also “helped” the North American in her dodge training to face Waterson. Rose hasn't fought since July last year, when she lost to Karolina Kowalkiewicz by split decision.
