By controversially beating the former champion Chris Weidman at UFC 210, held last Saturday (8), in Buffalo (USA), Gegard Mousasi confirmed the good phase of his career and reached his fifth consecutive victory. However, if inside the octagon he has no reason to complain, the reality is different when it comes to salary.

The duel against Weidman was the last of his contract with Ultimate, and despite guaranteeing that he intends to continue fighting in the organization, Mousasi made clear his dissatisfaction with the payments received, and joked whether his country of origin would be a reason for not receiving what he he thinks he deserves it.

“My goal is to win the UFC belt. I'm not looking to go anywhere else, but I should be paid better. I beat Jacaré, I won Dan Henderson, I won Mark Hunt, I won Vitor belfort and I beat Weidman. They are all making more money than me. Why that? Is it because of my nationality? Do you want me to dye my hair blonde?” said the athlete, during the press conference after the event.

Minutes after Gegard's complaint, it was UFC president Dana White's turn to appear at the press conference. Upon learning of the fighter's statement, the manager was direct in responding because Mousasi does not receive more than others.

"Dan Henderson He's been in the sport forever. Mark Hunt he has an entire country with him. When we do fights in Australia, it sells out. Gegard Mousasi It's not selling out tickets. That's why you see guys like Bisping, different fighters in Brazil, Conor McGregor. When these guys have a country with them, it's decisive. Not everyone has that luxury”, countered the president, who concluded by stating that he intends to continue with Mousasi in the franchise.

“I'm a fan of Gegard. I'm one of those who brought Gegard here. I really like him, so, yes, I want to continue with him here,” she concluded.
