Back at welterweight, Pitbull showed his usual aggression to overcome Côté in the judges' unanimous decision (triple 30×27). With the positive result, he ends the series of two defeats, and once again dreams of a higher position in the under-77kg division. In Ultimate since 2005, he achieved his 14th triumph at home, in addition to having eight defeats.

“It’s great to be back. It's been a long time since I won last time. In my attempt to move down the division, I lost around 7 kilos, but returning to welterweight is very good,” declared Thiago, still in the octagon.

Côté, in turn, lost for the 11th time as a professional, and now has a record of 23-11. After the fight, the Canadian, who came to face Anderson Silva for the middleweight belt, in 2008, he announced his retirement from MMA: “This is my last fight, it's been 15 incredible years. I thank everyone and the entire organization.”

The fight

The two athletes started the duel with a lot of study and little action, but the Canadian connected the best blows. Pitbull applied a good knee to Côté's face, who felt it and backed away. The Brazilian began to surround his opponent in the octagon, but did little to attack, while Patrick tried to surprise with the counterattack. With about a minute left before the bell sounded, Thiago connected with a strong left cross on Côté, which was the knockdown. The Ceará native quickly went up and tried to settle the bill, but the round came to an end.

Aware of the disadvantage in the initial stage, Patrick returned more aggressive, hunting the Brazilian in the cage. After a few moments of study, the two rehearsed a frank exchange, but soon returned to playing at long range. Cote continued to take the initiative, while Pitbull responded with the counterattack. The 'Predator' landed good blows on his opponent, but there was no follow-up. Côté went after Thiago, who responded with a beautiful counterattack, bending the Canadian's knees. In the final minute, the two exchanged blows in the center of the octagon, without much effectiveness.

In the last round, more of the same: Côté looking for the fight and Thiago responding with the counterattack. The Canadian applied a good cross to the Brazilian's face and completed it with an unsuccessful takedown attempt. Seconds later, it was Pitbull's turn to surprise and land a good takedown, landing in his rival's guard. However, the two did little on the ground, and soon returned to the fight on their feet. With his face bleeding heavily, Côté went all out, but the Brazilian, confident in the advantage he had gained during the fight, avoided the exchange until the horn sounded.

This was Do Bronx's tenth triumph in Ultimate, his ninth by submission. He still adds seven negative results, one I didn't answer. Brooks, in turn, still hasn't managed to show what he came for in the UFC, and lost his second in three fights in the organization. Now, the former Bellator champion has an 18-3 record.

In the interview still in the octagon, Charles once again showed interest in returning to featherweight, and assured that he continues to be the best jiu-jitsu under 66kg.

“I don't want to stay at lightweight, I want to go back to my division (featherweight). Give me this opportunity. I got submitted in my last two, but I'm the best jiu-jitsu in my category. You get in here, it's pressure all the time. Daughter, daddy is coming!”, declared the fighter.

The fight started with the two studying each other in the center of the octagon, but Charles surprised and scored a beautiful takedown, in the first minute. With the support of the fence, Brooks managed to get up, but was taken to the ground again, with the Brazilian taking his back, standing up. Aware of the good position, Do Bronx didn't waste the opportunity and locked in a rear-naked choke, forcing the North American to give up three taps.
