Ronaldo Jacare remains active, while waiting for his opportunity to try for the Ultimate middleweight title. On Saturday (15), he faces Robert whittaker at UFC Kansas. Even though he is fully focused on the next challenge, the Brazilian also has his eyes on Gegard Mousasi x Chris Weidman, another fight between the top of the category, which takes place a week earlier, at UFC 210.

In an interview with SUPER LUTAS, the jiu-jitsu world champion admitted that he sees Mousasi as the favorite in the fight, but believes that as he already beat the Armenian in the UFC, this fight would not be interesting for his career. If former UFC champion Weidman surprises, Jacaré sees him as a possible rival in the future.
“My total focus is on Robert whittaker, which is hard. A young, fast, strong athlete. There is a lot of boxing lined up (…) I already beat Mousasi in the UFC, I already submitted him, so this fight doesn't interest me. But I think he beats Weidman. It's a very tough fight for the American, I don't see him beating Mousasi, it's going to be tough for him. But I do think that Weidman could become my opponent in the future”, declared Jacaré, who also said he preferred Luke Rockhold ou Yoel romero.
“I wanted to face Luke or Romero before, but then the UFC offered me this toughness, which is what Robert whittaker. He's an athlete on the rise and we're going to be very careful with him, I have to stay tuned. But then, if I win, I want to face a top middleweight, because I know I need one more fight”, he concluded.
