Light heavyweight champion despite defeat to Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier cannot escape the rival's shadow. Upon learning that “Bones” will be present at UFC 210, this Saturday (8), when he defends his title against Anthony Johnson, DC made a threat to the former champion, saying that it was better for everyone that he didn't try to climb into the octagon and challenge him, if Cormier gets past Johnson again.

“I understand that he (Jon Jones) is from here (Buffalo, NY, where UFC 210 takes place), I understand. But if I were him, in the same situation he is in, I wouldn't show up (…) He's not welcome in the octagon. He is still suspended. When he is free from punishment, then he can go up and challenge me, but if he dares to go up to the octagon, something very bad will happen”, reacted Cormier, in a press interview, this Thursday (6), reproduced by US website MMA Fighting, adding that he found it “sad” that Jones was limiting his potential by putting himself in bad situations.

“He is the most talented competitor I have ever faced in my life. He's very good in all aspects of MMA, but for him to limit his own potential and the story he was building, it's crazy, it's sad. At the end of the day, there's one person I have to worry about and that person is Anthony Johnson. You people in the media care about Jones, we don’t,” she concluded.

Cormier began his career at heavyweight, earning his first 14 victories in the division, including the Strikeforce Grand Prix. In the UFC, he also faced Frank mir e Roy Nelson in this category, before moving down to light heavyweight, in order to avoid a fight with his personal friend and then heavyweight champion, Cain Velazquez. Up to 93 kg., beat Patrick Cummins, Dan Henderson, lost to Jon Jones and overcame Anthony Johnson, Alexander Gustafson e Anderson Silva.
