After starting his career with 13 consecutive victories, including two triumphs over Anderson Silva, expectations about Chris Weidman were as high as possible. However, the first criticisms came with the two consecutive defeats in his last two fights, against Luke Rockhold it's against Yoel romero.

The former middleweight champion revealed that he is motivated by the challenge of silencing his critics and intends to use his next fight, this Saturday (8) against Gegard Mousasi at UFC 210, to send a message to those who doubt his ability.

“Even if you don't want to pay attention, you know what people are thinking. I love being motivated by doubters. There are definitely a lot of doubters right now who think I'm finished and there are also those who think I'm far from finished. This excites me and helps me push myself even harder in each activity. Not just to become the best I can be but to be at the top and prove some people wrong. This is a great place to be, it’s a wonderful time,” Weidman commented to the North American website Fox Sports.

At 32 years old, Weidman will need more than a victory over Mousasi to return to the top. In his absence, Rockhold, responsible for taking the middleweight title from him, lost the belt to Michael Bisping, who defended him against Dan Henderson and now faces Georges St Pierre. At least for now, the “All-American” is behind GSP, Ronaldo Jacare e Yoel romero.
