Coming from two defeats at featherweight, where he had difficulty breaking the category's weight limit (66kg.), Charles Oliveira returns to lightweight, this Saturday (8), to face Will Brooks, at UFC 210. However, “From the Bronx ” admits that he intends to ask Ultimate to return to featherweight soon.

The UFC made the decision to force the Brazilian to move up a division, after yet another failure to cut weight, in his last fight, against Ricardo Lamas. “From the Bronx” had a weekend to forget, in UFC Mexico November last year, as he did not make weight and was submitted for the second consecutive time using the same technique – he had also lost by guillotine to Anthony Pettis in the penultimate fight.
“We have this fight at lightweight, and then I'm going to sit down with my team and my manager, talk and decide the next step. My focus is up to 70 kg. now, and then we'll see what happens. I believe featherweight is the best category for me, but it's no longer up to me alone. I have a great team around me, so let's make this decision. But I believe it's better to fight at featherweight”, commented Do Bronx to the North American website MMA Fighting.
Interestingly, the Brazilian started his UFC career at lightweight, beating Darren Elkins and Efrain Escudero. However, after a defeat to Donald Cerrone, Oliveira decided to move down to featherweight, where he encountered problems making weight on several occasions, until Ultimate lost patience after the incident before the fight with Lamas.
