Tired of waiting, Cyborg considers fighting for the interim featherweight belt

Chris Cyborg she's tired of waiting to fight. After revealing that the featherweight champion Germaine DeRandamie refused to face her at UFC 212, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, on June 3rd, the Brazilian was ready to take action the following month, whether at UFC 213, on July 8th, which takes place at the International Fight Week, or in issue 214, the 29th of the same month. If the Dutchwoman is not fit to fight, Cyborg revealed that she would even accept to fight for the interim belt against an opponent.

“No one from the UFC spoke to me if Germain de Randamie will be ready to fight in July. I don't want an interim belt, but if she's not healthy by then, I'm willing to face another fighter for the chance to compete for the title in Anaheim. I'm happy that the UFC created the women's featherweight division. The doctors ordered me to recover from the extreme weight cuts to 63,5kg (or 140 pounds), which was the reason I couldn't fight Germaine last January in Anaheim. Now that my body is strong and healthy, I'm ready to defend my position as number one in the rankings and I hope to be the next challenger, if she accepts my challenge for UFC 214”, declared the fighter, in an interview with the website “BJPenn. com” (USA).

When asked about De Randamie's qualities, Cyborg adopted a respectful stance. Praising her rival highly, she assured that the two can provide a fight with a lot of excitement for the fans.

“She is a very talented striker. If she had been a little more aggressive, she could have finished the fight against Holly holm. I'm looking forward to showing how much my muay thai has improved since the loss I suffered to Jorina Baars in a muay thai fight, and this is a great opportunity for that to happen. I haven't gotten any UFC Fight of the Night bonuses yet, and I think Germaine is the ideal opponent to do one of those classic fights with me that fans will talk about for years," said Cyborg, who added that Germaine, although have good victories on your record, you have never faced someone at your level.

“Germaine has never faced anyone like me. The combined record of all the fighters she has beaten in the UFC is three wins and nine losses – and the three wins are all from Holly holm. She has already been defeated by the Bellator bantamweight champion, julia budd, and the UFC bantamweight champion, Amanda nunes. I'm sure that when we face each other, the fans will see why I've been undefeated for ten years. She is one of the greatest in history in Muay Thai, but we are going to fight MMA”, she concluded.
