Born in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Dos Anjos never fought at home for Ultimate. Therefore, he has been campaigning to make his welterweight debut at UFC 212, which takes place in Cidade Maravilhosa, on June 3rd. And to join the event, it’s even worth accepting old challenges. Former Strikeforce champion, Tarec saffiedine had asked for a fight against RDA in January, when he learned of the change in category of the former lightweight belt holder.

And, last Wednesday (29), Dos Anjos finally accepted the call from Saffiedine, currently ranked 10th in the UFC welterweight rankings. Through his official Twitter, the Brazilian also said that he had been receiving many challenges and that, when it came time to sign the contract, no one wanted to face him anymore.

“A lot of guys have challenged me. My answer to you is “yes”. I'm just waiting for your response. Show your face”, summarized RDA, apparently frustrated with some of the welterweights.

After becoming lightweight world champion with a practically perfect performance against Anthony Pettis, on 2015, Rafael Dos Anjos defended his belt with a first-round knockout over Donald Cerrone and even had a scheduled fight against Conor McGregor, in March 2016. The Brazilian, however, broke his foot and only defended his title again in July of the same year, when he lost the belt to Eddie Alvarez. After another setback, faced with Tony FergusonIn November, RDA announced his move up to welterweight.
