The light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier did not like suggestions that he had become slower over the years and ended up causing Anderson Silva, his last opponent, and one of the best fighters of all time. The two faced each other at UFC 200, when the Brazilian replaced Jon Jones with two days warning, after the former champion failed an anti-doping test.

In a conference call with the press before UFC 210, where he will face Anthony Johnson, DC responded to criticism of his quickness by talking about his performance against Anderson. For Cormier, the duel against the former middleweight champion was the easiest of his career.

“I faced Anderson Silva with two days notice. And I beat a guy who people consider the best fighter of all time, I scored 30-26 on all the scorecards, there was no danger in that fight. It was the easiest fight of my career. I don't know how I got slower. In fact, I put him down whenever I wanted”, he said.

At UFC 210, Cormier will put his belt on the line for just the second time. He achieved it in May 2015 against his next opponent, Anthony Johnson. In October of the same year, he fought evenly, but overcame Alexander Gustafson in the decision. In 2016, it would face Jon Jones at UFC 197, but was injured. “Bones” won Ovince St Preux and became interim champion, but lost the title after being caught in a drug test before UFC 200. Anderson Silva saved the fight by replacing Jones, but was dominated by DC.
