Less than three months after announcing his retirement from MMA, Mirko Cro Cop appears to have changed his mind. Through his social networks, the Croatian heavyweight challenged Fedor Emelianenko, who is scheduled to fight Matt Mitrione at Bellator 180 in June. In the post, Cro Cop revealed his desire to have a farewell fight against the Russian legend.
“Who wants to see my farewell fight against Fedor? If he dares… “, wrote Cro Cop in the caption of the montage.
It is worth remembering that Mirko and Fedor already faced each other, in the distant year of 2005. On that occasion, Emelianenko defeated the Croatian by unanimous decision of the judges, and won the heavyweight belt of the extinct PRIDE.
Cro Cop, 42 years old, has 49 fights in his career, having recorded 35 wins, 11 losses, two draws and one unsuccessful fight. During his 15 years as a professional, he was marked by several knockouts with high kicks, which even generated the famous phrase “Right leg, hospital; left leg, cemetery.” His best moment was in the extinct Pride, when he won the GP by defeating Josh Barnett in the grand final, in 2006. In Ultimate, he had three spells, accumulating five triumphs and six setbacks.
