Interim featherweight champion (up to 66kg), Max Holloway will face José Aldo, linear champion of the category, at UFC 212, June 3, in Rio de Janeiro. With just over two months to go before the clash, the Hawaiian posted an unofficial poster of the event on his social media, in which he appears painted with the Hawaiian flag on his face, while Aldo has the colors of Brazil painted on his face.

The duel between Aldo and Holloway should have taken place at UFC 208, in February. However, the Hawaiian, who fought at UFC 206 in early December, was injured and was unable to accept the fight, which led to Aldo asking for lightweight fights. The Brazilian regained the belt, first on an interim basis, by winning Frankie Edgar at UFC 200. However, the interim title became linear after Ultimate took away Conor McGregor of the post – the Irishman officially remains only lightweight champion.
As for Holloway, who would face Anthony Pettis initially for the right to try for a title shot, he saw his fight against the former lightweight belt holder turn into an interim title. At UFC 206, the Hawaiian knocked out Pettis in the third round and became interim champion.
