The superfight between the UFC lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, and multi-time boxing champion Floyd Mayweather is getting closer and closer to being realized. Last Wednesday, the Irishman obtained his boxing license from the Nevada Athletic Commission, as long as he pays the stipulated fine, and an agency official said that a duel between “Notorious” and “Money” would probably be approved.

This despite McGregor never having boxed professionally, and Mayweather having 49 wins and no losses, recognized as one of the greatest names in the history of the noble art. For Anthony Marnell, director of the NSAC, the discrepancy between the two's boxing experience would not be an obstacle to the approval of the duel.

“I can't tell you whether we would approve of this fight or not, but I think we probably would. We'd like to follow Conor to see how he fares in a boxing environment, but it's hard to argue when you have the best boxer of all time against one of the best strikers in the UFC. If this fight happens, and we are just speculating, I think it would be difficult for it not to be approved”, commented Marnell, to the press, after an agency meeting.

To get his boxing license, however, McGregor needs to pay the fine of US$25 and withdraw legal action taken in the American courts so that the NSAC could reduce his fine, originally US$150.
