Bellator announces signing of welterweight Lorenz Larkin, ex-UFC

Fighter refused renewal offer with Ultimate and preferred to settle with his former employer's rival

Bellator has further “fattened” its welterweight category with great fighters. After hiring Rory McDonald, the promotion managed by Scott Coker, former owner of Strikeforce, announced this Thursday (16), the signing of Lorenz Larkin, another former UFC fighter, who has two consecutive victories over important names in Ultimate: Jorge masvidal e Neil Magny.

With the addition of Larkin to the squad, Bellator has, in its category up to 77 kg, with names of the caliber of Paul Daley, the Brazilian and current champion Douglas lima, Andrei Koreshkov, Michael Page, in addition to the aforementioned Rory McDonald. Not to mention Benson Henderson, former UFC champion, who fluctuates between welterweight and lightweight.

Lorenz Larkin has a record of 18 wins, five losses and one fight without result. He appeared before the general public fighting as a middleweight in Strikeforce. When Ultimate bought its then rival, Larkin arrived at the UFC and, still in the middleweight division, lost four fights and won just one. When he moved down to welterweight, the numbers were reversed: the North American leaves Ultimate with four wins (Masvidal, Magny, Santiago Ponzinibbio and John Howard) and just one setback, against Albert Tumenov, another who recently left the UFC.
