MMA fan and personal friend of the strawweight Jessica Stacker, who will fight for the category belt against the champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Giba bet on the Brazilian to take the title, which will be contested at UFC 211, on May 13, in Dallas (USA).

“She is very focused, she seems to have improved since losing weight. I believe she can win, yes. She’s going to be a champion,” said Giba, who helped the fighter by seeking out physiology professionals, in addition to training with the physical trainer the two had in common in 2014.

Despite being a volleyball icon, Giba revealed that he is linked to MMA in several ways. In addition to helping promote Brave in Curitiba, the main fight of which will be a duel between ex-U.F.C. lucas mineiro and Mexican Fabián Galván, the former player has promoters of MMA events in his family, as well as connections with Vitor belfort.

“My brother-in-law, my wife's sister's husband, is one of the owners of Face to Face, so I end up following the sport. When there's UFC, we have a barbecue for the family. I wanted to come to UFC 198, but I couldn't. For a few years I was sponsored by Sky, which had (a contract with) the Vitor belfort, and his father was our supervisor at Minas Tênis Clube, in the 90s”, revealed Giba.
