Despite starting his UFC career with three straight defeats, Joe Soto has been on a positive streak in his last three fights. The last victory was against the Brazilian Rani Yaya, last Saturday (11), at UFC Fortaleza. To achieve another triumph, however, the North American literally had to give blood. After a clash of heads at the beginning of the second round, Soto was cut on the head and lost a lot of blood.

One day after the fight, the bantamweight posted a photo on his official Instagram of the cut with the points already received. In the caption, he joked about the depth of the injury, asking his followers if the injury was “really bad”. The victory over Rani Yaya it interrupted a four-fight undefeated streak for the Brazilian, who had not been defeated since November 2013, when he was defeated by Tom Niinimaki, in a split decision.
Soto made his UFC debut fighting for the bantamweight title in August 2014. He replaced Renan Barao against the then champion TJ Dillashaw, a day in advance, after the Brazilian passed out and hit his head on a bathtub during the weight cutting process. Despite resisting Dillashaw for more than 20 minutes, the American ended up being knocked out in the last round of the UFC 177 main fight.
