Amanda nunes, UFC bantamweight champion, recently said she would like to move up to featherweight and seek to hold two belts simultaneously. However, the Brazilian clarified that she only intends to continue with her goal, if her compatriot Chris Cyborg take longer to return to Ultimate and make his debut at 66 kg. officially. The Lioness said she is a fan of the Invicta champion and admits that she would like to see her alongside her representing Brazil among the Ultimate champions.

“The champion now (at featherweight) is Germaine DeRandamie and I've already fought with her. She is originally from my division. So I would like to go up. I already beat her and I know I can beat her again. No woman has achieved two belts at the same time and I would like to do that. But I want to see Chris Cyborg as a champion, she is a warrior and deserves it. This division is hers, it was opened because of her. I know he took time for himself, and I offered to fight Germaine only if she took longer. If she comes back soon, I want Cris to be champion”, explained Amanda, in an interview with the North American website MMA Fighting.

Despite praising her compatriot, the bantamweight champion left in the air the possibility of the two one day facing each other. For this to happen, however, Amanda believes that she will need to do very specific preparation to be on par with Cyborg and that this is not yet in her immediate plans.

“Cyborg is big for her division, featherweight (up to 66 kg.). And I'm small for bantamweight (61 kg.), my division. So if I want to fight her one day, I will have to prepare specifically for that, gain more muscle mass, more strength. This takes time,” she declared.
