The order of fights at UFC 209 created confusion between two of its protagonists. Tony Ferguson said that his duel against Khabib Nurmagomedov should be the main fight of the event, and heard Tyron woodley, who defends his welterweight title against Stephen Thompson in the big attraction of the night, tease him, saying that he was the only owner of a belt in all of UFC 209.

Ferguson didn't seem to like the exchange of provocations and threatened to move up a division to seek a fight with Woodley. The lightweight started his career in Ultimate at 77 kg, when he won TUF 13 in 2011. Soon after, however, he moved down a division and is now undefeated in eight fights.

The North American lightweight has only one defeat in Ultimate, compared to 11 victories. Currently, he is on a streak of nine consecutive victories, including victories over Brazilians Gleison Tibau, Edson Barboza e Rafael Dos Anjos, the latter former champion of the under-70 kg category. in the UFC.
