Even though most featherweight and welterweight fighters dream of fighting against Conor McGregor, the interim champion at 66 kg., Max Holloway, is not one of them. Hawaiian faces José Aldo in the main fight of UFC 212, in June in Rio de Janeiro, but he assured that he will refuse to beg for a rematch with the Irishman, current owner of the lightweight belt, as many athletes have done in recent times.

“Everyone knows what the money fight is and everyone is begging for it. But at the end of the day, Conor will fight whoever he wants, so I'm not going to be begging for that fight. I'd be just another guy on his knees. I’m going to get my own money fight and if Conor wants to fight, then let’s fight”, commented Holloway on the North American program “The MMA Hour”.

The two faced each other in August 2013, with McGregor winning by decision. Until the second fight with Nate diaz, this was the only time that an opponent of the Irishman took the fight to the end. Holloway is confident that if the two face each other again, it will be a different story.

“He is capable of dropping back to 66 kg. He's done this before (…) and he knows that if he goes back to featherweight, I'm the toughest fight for him. He can come see me when he's ready. Beyond that, there's nothing to talk about. If the fight happens, it will happen. I won't say anything, he will choose who he will fight. I’m not going to beg, because then I just look like a baby crying and asking for money,” he concluded.
