The fight between Glover and Gustafsson should have taken place in June 2015, in Berlin, but the Swede suffered an injury and ended up withdrawing from the fight. Now, the winner is very close to a title shot.
Gustafsson has a record of 17 wins and four losses as a professional. The Swede is coming off a series of injuries and has had just two fights in the last 16 months. In his last performance, in September 2016, he hit Jan Blachowicz in the unanimous decision of the judges.
In turn, Glover has a record of 26 wins and five losses. The Minas Gerais native played for the last time at UFC 208, on the 11th, when he crashed Jared Cannonier in the judges' decision.
Daniel Cormier, light heavyweight champion, puts his title on the line against Anthony Johnson at UFC 210 on April 8. From July, Jon Jones, considered the best fighter in the division, is free from suspension for doping and will be able to return to action. But, if Jones has any other problems outside the octagon, the winner of Glover and Gustafsson becomes the main title challenger.
