Bellator takes action preventing UFC from obtaining confidential contract data

Accused of monopolizing the market, UFC counted on Bellator's 'help' to prove innocence in the case

In 2015, a joint action by fighters and former MMA fighters culminated in a formal accusation against the UFC, alleging that the organization had a monopoly on the market. As proof, the prosecution gathered evidence and evidence to support the version presented.

Ultimate, trying to prove his innocence, requested a series of contracts and documents from Bellator, with the purpose of being able to compare the negotiations and, thus, rule out the accusations. Initially, Scott Coker, president of Bellator, collaborated with the competitor, but for a short time.

According to the website 'Sporting News' (USA), representatives of the organization chaired by Coker filed a court request that no more information be given. As they argued, they claimed that the requests made by the UFC are confidential data of the company, and, if they are disclosed, they could make possible future negotiations difficult.

To date, no court decision has been taken. The UFC, in turn, did not comment after the new measure taken by Bellator.
