UFC announces event in Singapore in June

The event will take place on June 17th, but there is still no fight announced for the card

The UFC confirmed this Wednesday (22) that it will hold an event in Singapore, Asia, on June 17, with an edition of UFC Fight Night. So far, no fights have been announced for the card.

Through a press release, Joe Carr, UFC's international vice president, explained that the event is part of the organization's strategy to spread Ultimate in Asia.

“We are very excited to kick off our Asian calendar in 2017 with UFC Fight Night in Singapore. Singapore is home to our base in Asia and has been a key piece in our strategy to grow the UFC and MMA brand in Asia,” he declared.

This will be the second show held by the franchise in Singapore. The first time occurred in January 2014, when Tarec saffiedine defeated Hyun Gyu Lim in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 34. At the time, two Brazilians were present on the card: Luiz 'Besouro”, who lost to Kiichi Kunimoto by disqualification (illegal strikes) and Leandro Issa, submitted by Russell Doane.
