In addition to being honored by her team, De Randamie also received the Sports Medal from the mayor of the city of Utrecht, Jan Van Zanen, an honor given to sportspeople who carry the city's name around the world. She was presented with a Utrecht shirt with her nickname, Iron Lady, on the back.
The Dutch woman won the belt at UFC 208 on February 11th, when she beat the former bantamweight champion Holly holm by decision. The fight had two controversies when De Randamie punched Holm at the bell and the American is appealing the result to the New York Athletic Commission, as she claims that the blows she received after the bell were fundamental in the defeat. Meanwhile, however, Germaine continues to reap the rewards of her achievement.
