the return of Georges St Pierre to the UFC was announced a few days ago, but speculation about his next opponent has already begun. Firas Zahabi, the Canadian's trainer, hinted that the plans are not focused on the welterweight category belt (up to 77kg), in which GSP reigned for almost seven years. According to him, super fights against Conor McGregor, lightweight champion (up to 70kg), or even Michael Bisping, middleweight champion (up to 84kg), is the best option for your pupil.

“I was really happy when I heard a buzz, buzz, buzz from Bisping or McGregor and I was really happy. These two would be epic fights. One would be lighter, the other a little taller. These are thought-provoking fights. Woodley is the welterweight champion, but he has a fight against “Wonderboy” (Stephen Thompson). If “Wonderboy” wins, there will be a trilogy and we don't want to face him. So, I don't think the title is something that GSP is thinking about right now given the current scenario. McGregor is a huge star and if you put them in a main fight, there's no one who won't see it. I believe that even non-fans will watch this. I don’t do the fights, nor am I a businessman, I speak as a coach”, declared the coach, in an interview with the podcast “The MMA Hour” (USA).

When asked about the duration of the fight, Zahabi made it clear that the intention is for St. Pierre to fight for five rounds, and once again confirmed his desire for a super fight, leaving the belt in the background.

“I hope it’s a five-round fight. I can't see George having a three-round fight, to be honest. I'm not worried about titles. I think he's already concluded that. A title would be great, but a name he thinks is good would be exciting and something the fans would want to see,” he concluded.

St. Pierre hasn't fought since November 2013, when he crashed John hendricks and shortly thereafter announced his indefinite retirement from MMA. In total, he has a professional record of 25 wins and two losses. In the UFC, he has 20 triumphs and two setbacks, with nine title defenses in the welterweight category.
