After victory at middleweight, Hendricks dreams of a rematch against GSP

We can add the name of John hendricks to the list of possible opponents for the return of Georges St Pierre to the UFC. The North American was the Canadian's last rival and lost a very debatable decision in the main fight of UFC 167, in November 2013. At the time, GSP, surprised by the victory and retaining the belt, announced an indefinite stop to the sport.

Hendricks then became the new welterweight champion by winning Robbie Lawler at UFC 171, but was dethroned by Lawler himself in the rematch, a few months later, at UFC 181. Since then, Big Rigg had been having trouble making weight in the 77-pound division. and, last Sunday (19), he had his first fight between middleweights (up to 84 kg.), winning Hector Lombard in the decision. After the duel, the former champion asked for a rematch with GSP.

“I love Canada. But with Georges coming back I'm going to have to apologize to the Canadians, because I'm going to have to beat him, especially if he comes to middleweight. This is a fight I would really like to do. He reportedly said he would like to move up to face Bisping. But who would rather watch him and Bisping than me and Bisping? I think the whole world would prefer that,” commented Hendricks at the post-UFC Halifax press conference.

Despite Hendricks' desire, the list of possible opponents for GSP has other big names: in addition to Bisping, Anderson Silva Nick Diaz and the winner of the main fight of UFC 209 (which will determine whether the welterweight champion Tyron woodley remains with the title or if Stephen Thompson becomes the new owner of the belt) are other viable options.
