Ultimate arrives in New York (USA) for UFC 208, an event that takes place this Saturday (11), and marks the return of Anderson Silva to the Octagon, The Spider faces the dangerous Derek Brunson, in the second most important fight of the night. In the main attraction of the show, Holly holm e Germaine DeRandamie compete for the inaugural women's featherweight belt (up to 66 kg).

Still on the main card, Ronaldo Jacare, third in the middleweight rankings (up to 84kg) and with an eye on fighting for the category title, faces Tim Boestch, while Glover Teixeira measure strength with the promise Jared Cannonier. In the preliminary portion, two more Brazilians stand out: Wilson reis and Roan Jucão, who face Yuta Sasaki and Ryan LaFlare, respectively.

To get you in the mood for UFC 208, the SUPER FIGHTS prepared five reasons for you to attend the event.

1 – The return of Anderson Silva

What stance will be taken by Anderson Silva against Derek Brunson: serious and committed or will he abuse, once again, his traditional provocations? This is perhaps the biggest doubt regarding the return of Spider, who will try to break the uncomfortable streak of four years and four months without wins – five games. Since he knocked out Stephan bonnar at UFC 153, in October 2012, the Brazilian was defeated by Chris Weidman (twice), Michael Bisping e Daniel Cormier, in addition to an unsuccessful fight against Nick Diaz.

Now, against the dangerous Brunson, eight years younger, the former middleweight champion wants to put his bad record behind him and restart his race for one last chance at the division's belt. In 7th place in the rankings, Anderson has enough bargaining power to win a new title shot if he puts on a show in the Octagon. If we take into account the rivalry with Michael Bisping, current champion, the scenario gains even more strength.

We can say, without fear of making mistakes, that the fight at UFC 208 is all or nothing for Spider. It's win or win if you still want, at 41 years old, to be among the best in the world again. Does anyone doubt that he is capable?

2 – Holly Holm and the chance to make history

When stepping into the octagon this Saturday, Holly holm will have the opportunity to carve her name in UFC history as the first woman to win titles in two different divisions of the organization. In November 2015, she shocked the world by running over Ronda Rousey and win the bantamweight belt. Now, against Germaine DeRandamie, has a chance to become the featherweight champion.

However, anyone who thinks that the feat, if achieved, will be a new development in the blonde's career is mistaken, as she became champion in different weight categories in boxing. At the age of 31, in 2013, Holm left his boxing career in the past with an incredible record of 33 wins, two losses and three draws.

Returning to MMA, Holly is not going through a good phase, with two consecutive defeats, even though she was considered a favorite. Whether the former bantamweight champion will write her name in the books again, we will know soon. However, it is best not to doubt her, as indicated by the bookmakers, who point to De Randamie as the favorite for the duel. After all, surprising predictions is becoming a habit in the American woman's career, for better or for worse...

3 – Ronaldo Jacaré eyes the belt

Twenty out of twenty people were surprised when the UFC announced that Ronaldo Jacare, tipped to fight for the middleweight belt, was married against Tim Boestch, 13th in the rankings. But the reality is that the Brazilian had no choice after seeing his tormentor Yoel romero be elevated to the position of challenger to the champion Michael Bisping: either he accepted the duel, regardless of the opponent, or he remained in the fridge – he hasn’t fought since May 2016.

This Saturday, it is no exaggeration to say that the chances of Jacaré recording yet another stunning victory in his record are enormous, except if the famous little zebra – in this case, a big zebra – shows up, after all, it is common knowledge that the American has fists capable of resolving the stop in a single blow. If he scores his seventh triumph in the company, what will be the next step for the jiu-jitsu world champion?

Facing the winner of Bisping vs. Romero? Seeing your personal friend 'Spider' break the bank? Have one more fight before fighting for the title? The questions are many, but the answers are still a mystery. It remains for Jacaré, at the height of his 37 years, to continue his journey in the same efficient way he has done so far: corresponding inside the Octagon.

4 – The chance of redemption for Glover Teixeira

Being knocked out is bad enough in itself, but being knocked out in just 13 seconds is certainly even more frustrating. AND Glover Teixeira He felt the ungrateful experience when he was erased by Anthony Johnson at UFC 202, in August 2016. To make matters worse, the fight was valid as a qualifier for the next challenger for the light heavyweight belt.

However, despite the recent blow, Glover is still a legitimate member of the elite at 93kg. Number 3 in the ranking, the Minas Gerais native, who has already competed for the title against the former champion Jon Jones, in 2014, has already dispatched eight names in the organization, seven of them via the fast track (four knockouts and three submissions), which shows how complete the Brazilian's game is, owner of refined jiu-jitsu and heavy fists.

At 37 years old, the duel against the unknown Jared Cannonier It could be a watershed moment for Brazilians. If he wins, he will begin his climb for the title shot for the third time. If he is surprised, he will have to be content with the 'gatekeeper' status of the top 5.

5 – More Brazil in action

The first Brazilian to enter the Octagon, the experienced Roan 'Jucão' Carneiro, 38 years old, debuted in the UFC ten years ago, in the distant year of 2007. In his first stint, he accumulated two wins and three losses, which culminated in his dismissal. After seven victories in minor events, he received, in early 2015, a second chance in the organization. And he arrived making a good impression: he submitted Mark Munhoz in less than two minutes, in a duel valid for the middleweight category.

Afterwards, however, he succumbed to Derek Brunson and was knocked out in the first round. To get back on track with victories, Jucão decided to cut 7kg and venture into the lower category. In his welterweight debut, he won by split decision against the limited Kenny Robertson. Now, against Ryan LaFlare, the Rio native needs the victory to return to being among the protagonists.

From almost a challenger to the preliminary card. This was the situation experienced by Wilson reis at UFC 201, in July 2016, when he was scheduled to face the champion Demetrious Johnson, but an injury to the flyweight king prevented the duel from taking place. Therefore, the Brazilian was selected against newcomer Hector Sandoval, whom he dispatched in just over a minute.

Number five in the division's rankings, Reis, 32 years old, will have to get past Japan's Yuta Sasaki to prove, once again, that he deserves a place among the best in his weight class. With two consecutive victories in the franchise (five in total), a third positive result could give Wilson a new opportunity to make every fighter's dream come true: fighting for the coveted UFC belt.
