Anderson defends fighters' union: 'Evolution of the sport'

Former champion made himself available to help, but reiterated good relationship with the UFC

Even though you are focused on Derek Brunson, his opponent at UFC 208 next Saturday (11), Anderson Silva revealed that he intends to do more for fighters outside the Octagon. The Brazilian said he was in favor of creating a specific union for MMA athletes and admitted that he would like to help in efforts to move this idea forward.

"Is important. It's about the evolution of the sport. MMA is becoming more professional outside the octagon. Every now and then, fighters don't understand how much the sport needs to change, it needs a union. Fighters need to come together for the sport to get better and better. I would like to be part of that. It's very important. It's the future of sport. I have a good relationship with the UFC, but my personal opinion is that this is necessary to improve the sport”, commented Anderson, in a press interview at UFC 208 Media Day, in Brooklyn.

Coming from two consecutive defeats, against Michael Bisping e Daniel Cormier, Anderson faces Derek Brunson needing a victory if he wants to continue dreaming of a rematch with the Englishman, current middleweight champion, a title he held between 2006 and 2013.
