Heavyweight Daniel Omielanczuk was cleared by USADA (American Anti-Doping Agency), the body responsible for the UFC's anti-doping control, after failing an anti-doping test carried out on January 21, 2016, in which the presence of meldonium was found. The substance had been banned by WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) on January 1, 2016.

In a statement published on the UFC website this Monday (06), USADA claimed that the Russian fighter had ingested the substance between August and September 2015, that is, before meldonium was included in the prohibited list in the category of hormonal modulators and metabolic. After a new analysis of the case, the body, together with WADA, concluded that Daniel's use of the substance was consistent with ingestion prior to the ban, thus opting not to impose any punishment on the fighter.

Interestingly, despite the exam being carried out in the first month of 2016, outside the competition period, Daniel Omielanczuk was not provisionally suspended and continued to perform. Since then, he had three fights in 2017, with two wins and one loss. At 34 years old, his next fight will take place at UFC London, on March 18, against the American Timothy Johnson.
