Thiago Tavares does not renew with UFC and signs with Aspera FC

Catarinense, who has been in Ultimate since 2007, will make his debut at Aspera FC on February 18

The journey has come to an end Thiago tavares in the UFC. In the organization since 2007, the fighter did not have his contract renewed with the largest MMA organization in the world and is yet another Brazilian who leaves the franchise.

However, the featherweight already has a new home: Aspera FC announced the Santa Catarina native as the franchise's newest signing, and he will make his debut against Maurício ”Bad Boy” Machado, on February 18th, at Aspera FC 49, in Balneário Camboriú, Santa Catarina.

Thiago was hired by the UFC in 2007, still as a lightweight, a category in which he fought until 2014, when he moved down to featherweight. In total, there were 18 fights in Ultimate, with 10 wins, seven losses and 1 draw. In his most recent performance, he was knocked out by Doo Ho Choi at the TUF 23 Finale, in July 2016. Previously, he submitted Clay guida in just 39 seconds, in November 2015, in UFC Sao Paulo.

In addition to Tavares, Áspera FC 49 will feature two other former UFC fighters: middleweight Alberto Uda and welterweight Glaico Nego França, champion of TUF Brasil 4. They will face Huinderson Barbosa and Ludy Goulart, respectively.
