The current bantamweight champion, Amanda nunes, does not hide her desire to become the first woman to hold two belts in two different categories, repeating the feat of Conor McGregor. However, the Brazilian's search for a new title displeased a potential challenger at 61 kg. Julianna Pena, which faces Valentina Shevchenko at UFC Denver, he accused the Lioness of running away from a possible duel between the two.

“I think there is still a lot of competition for her at bantamweight, so I think Amanda should reconsider moving to another division. Hopefully I can win my next fight and remain undefeated in the UFC. If I were the champion, I would prefer to “clean up” my own division instead of running for another category”, commented Peña after the open training sessions for next Saturday’s event (28).

The Venezuelan even thinks she would be a favorite against Amanda nunes, based on the performance of the two against Zingano cat. The Brazilian's only defeat in the UFC was against “Alpha”, while Peña dominated the North American fighter in her most recent fight at UFC 200.

“This is a great fight for me (against Amanda). Since Zingano ran over Amanda and I recently dominated her, I think I can say I have what it takes to beat any woman weighing 61 kg. inside the Octagon,” she concluded.

The duel between Peña and Shevchenko, which will serve as the main fight of UFC Denver, should define Amanda's next challenger. There are rumors that the fight could take place at the numbered event that Ultimate will hold in Brazil in June.
