Anyone who thinks that rivalry between Daniel Cormier e Jon Jones remained in the past. Current light heavyweight champion, DC made no point of hiding one of his goals for his career: a rematch with 'Bones'.

The second clash between them was narrowly missed at UFC 200, in July 2016, but Jones was removed from the card two days earlier, after being caught taking a drug test. However, not even the former number 1 in the category's problems with doping would be a problem for Cormier, who guaranteed that he would face him even if he was doped.

“Honestly, when all that happened in July, I would have fought him two days later. It doesn't make any difference. I simply wanted to fight. I'm here to fight and there's our history – I'm a competitor and I need to get that back. It means a lot to me and I need to get that back. My life and my career wouldn’t be “ok” if I had to walk away without sharing the octagon with that guy again”, he declared, in an interview with the program “Fox Sports Radio” (USA).

The first time they faced each other, Daniel was defeated by 'Bones' by unanimous decision from the judges, at UFC 187, in January 2015. For the current champion, the fact that his rival was doped would not influence his desire to fight, although it would be face 'another opponent'.

“I would fight him. If that was the case before, then the guy I would face now wouldn't be the same guy I faced the first time. But I would fight him, yes”, he concluded.

After the news of doping Jon Jones, which was later tried and suspended for a year, DC faced Anderson Silva at UFC 200, when he won by unanimous decision, in a duel that was not worth the light heavyweight title. He would defend his belt against Anthony Johnson in December 2016, at UFC 206, but an injury took him out of the fight.
