It won't be this time Demian Maia will fight for the welterweight belt in Ultimate. This Monday (09), it was confirmed that the champion Tyron woodley will have a rematch with Stephen Thompson at UFC 209, March 4, in Las Vegas (USA). The two faced each other at UFC 205, last November, and the duel ended in a draw, keeping the belt with the current holder.

Woodley, 34 years old, became champion of the category by defeating Robbie Lawler at UFC 201, in July 2016, by knockout in the first round. With 16 wins and just three losses in his career, he hasn't known what it's like to lose since 2014, when he was surpassed by Rory McDonald in the unanimous decision of the judges. In Ultimate, there are six positive results, two negative results and one draw.
At 33 years old, Thompson had won seven consecutive victories until drawing with Tyron, having beaten names like the former champion John hendricks e Rory McDonald. In total, there are 13 wins, one draw and only one setback in the record – for Matt Brown, almost five years ago.
