“I definitely want this fight against Werdum. He talks a ton of nonsense to Cigano and others, but he never has anything to say against me. I'm sitting here and I say: “You're a slob… and you're not going to know me because you're a s… slob…”, declared Rothwell, in an interview with the North American website “FloCombat”.
Rothwell also explained his below-critical performance in his last fight – a decision loss to the Brazilian junior gypsy. According to the heavyweight, the Brazilian was so “friendly” in the pre-fight that he came in for training and not for a real fight.
“I’ve never lost a fight where I took it personally. And Cigano was smart because he was friendly, kept me calm and I ended up entering the octagon as if it were training. It was my fault and I simply didn’t turn the “switch” on this fight”, he pondered.
Before the setback to Cigano, Rothwell was on a four-fight winning streak, including a submission triumph against former UFC champion Josh Barnett. The North American is currently in fifth place in the heavyweight rankings.
