The former champion Fabricio Werdum was surprised last Saturday (24) with the news that his opponent Cain Velazquez was banned from fighting against him at UFC 207. Quickly, another Brazilian, Junior Gypsy volunteered to replace the North American, but the fight between Brazilians ended up not happening.

There was speculation that Werdum refused to face Cigano with less than a week to prepare, but according to Ali Abdelaziz, manager of “Vai Cavalo”, that did not happen.

“Werdum accepted the fight with Cigano on his terms. Cigano said m… because he said that the fight was rejected on Thursday (22), but Cain was only vetoed on the 24th”, commented Abdelaziz, on the radio program “MMAJunkie Radio”.

The terms referred to by Werdum's businessman would be financial. To accept the fight with former champion Cigano, “Vai Cavalo” he wanted a bigger purse, as well as the guarantee of a title shot in case of victory. The UFC did not meet the demands and the fight was not scheduled. The two already fought at UFC 90, in October 2008, with Cigano winning by knockout.
