After José Aldo affirm that he should compete for the interim lightweight belt (up to 70kg), it was time for Khabib Nurmagomedov reveal that the category title fight should actually happen soon, but without the Brazilian's participation. According to the Russian, Ultimate would have consulted him regarding a confrontation against Tony Ferguson at UFC 209, scheduled for March 4, in Las Vegas (USA).

If the duel is confirmed, Nurmagomedov and Ferguson will decide the next opponent for Conor McGregor, linear champion of the division. Recently, Dana White, president of the organization, admitted that the duel could happen.
