Max Holloway has been criticized for José Aldo and his team for not accepting a duel against the Brazilian at UFC 208, on February 11, in Brooklyn. However, it seems that the Hawaiian has a real reason not to fight. Through a social network, Brian Butler, Max's manager, published a photo showing the fighter's ankle very swollen.

“Fact 1: This is the reason why @BlessedMMA will not be able to face Aldo on February 11th. Fact 2: X-rays show that he re-injured the same injury he suffered in the first round against Conor (McGregor). Fact 3: Doctors said he can't train or impact for six weeks. Fact 4: Max didn't know about the potential date of the fight against Aldo until Dana told him in the cage and the adrenaline was still flowing, so he didn't feel the injury until the end of the event activities. Fact 5: Max has no hesitation in facing Aldo and will do so when he can,” Butler wrote in the caption of the image.
Max Holloway became interim featherweight champion by knocking out Anthony Pettis at UFC 206, December 10th. The fighter has been exchanging several barbs with José Aldo, holder of the category's linear belt and the Hawaiian's next opponent.
